At a height of 4,700–5,000 meters above sea level, Nepal's Sagarmatha National Park lies among the top 5 lakes in Nepal. Gokyo Ri mountain inspired the naming of lakes and a resort. Gokyo is one of the most well-known tourist locations on the route to Sagarmatha base camp and other locations. Gokyo hamlet, which lies at an elevation of 4,790 m (15,720 ft), is a significant hub in the region. From Namche Bazaar, the location is two days' worth of steep walking. Climbing Gokyo Ri is a common activity during a trip to the region. The EBC journey through Gokyo Lakes, a longer Everest Base Camp expedition, also includes the Gokyo Lakes. Given that the path is 4 days longer than the typical EBC journey, travelers with a little bit more time to trek frequently take on this hike. In addition, the Gokyo Lakes trip has the advantage of being round, as opposed to the typical EBC trek, which returns along the same path.
