Animal revolt is an animal and climate justice movement that aims to persuade governments to change towards a plant-based food system. The influence of animal husbandry on climate change, species extinction, and ecosystem disintegration is their reason for implementing such a system. In May 2021, an animal insurrection blocked the entrance to four McDonald's UK distribution hubs, asking that the fast-food giant switch fully plant-based by 2025. According to an animal revolt representative, what others refer to as sustainable meat is insufficient to address the climate catastrophe. In July, the group blocked the entrance of OSI Food Solutions, which they claim is the sole facility in the UK that produces McDonald's burgers. They urged that the menu be changed to be fully plant-based by 2025.

Every year, around 75 billion terrestrial animals and trillions of fish are slaughtered for sustenance. I believe we should also participate in this demonstration. And even getting a fraction of the way there would make a tremendous impact on the vast majority of creatures alive today. It's a huge issue, but it's also a once-in-a-lifetime chance because it links in with the environment and the fight over animal experimentation on cosmetics. Lately, animal insurrection has increased. Protesters camped out at McDonald's for almost a week. It's a huge operation that would be tough to complete without as many hands as possible on deck.
The protests have drawn a diverse group of followers, not simply vegans. According to an Animal Rebellion spokesman, some activists advocate for a systemic transition away from animal agriculture while not eating a plant-based diet themselves. This is true for some non-vegan Extinction Rebellion activists, who believe that modernizing the food system is the most important message. They agree with it. They believe that animal husbandry is destroying the earth and are prepared to go to jail for it. "It's incredible," the representative stated, alluding to recent occurrences.
